Today we went down to Pinnacles National Monument and went for a little hike through the caves. Karl, Norman, and the Tebbs family were there. Sam, Margaret, and Katy did really well climbing over the boulders through the cave.

We went to The Tech museum in San Jose with the Maxfields. It was interesting, Daniel works there, so we got to go on the roof and see inside a few exhibits.
We went to Squaw Valley today. They had a trapeze set up. Katy was a natural. We are thinking of sending her to circus school in Oakland. Katy and Margaret also did a trampoline thing that they thought was fun.
Bruce and I walked from Barker Pass back to our houses in Ward Canyon. Once we were near Barker Peak, I looked back and saw where the family was the day before. On the way, we scrambled up to the top of Twin Peaks. We went up to the saddle, then a little way up the Eastern most (right side) peak. The back was a pretty steep scramble, but the front was pretty much a shear cliff. From the top we could see a lot of Alpine Meadows and all of Ward Canyon (except our houses). We took lots of pictures to see if we could find our houses later, to no avail. The best we were able to do was find Merrill’s green propane tank. I also took this picture with my camera phone, but couldn’t quite actually send it from the top of Twin Peaks.
After lunch at Twin Peaks, we scrambled back down and tried to go to Stanford Rock. Turns out, we got to what we thought was the top of the trail, but we never quite made it to Stanford Rock.
It was good to get out and explore some more of Ward Canyon and the surrounding area an d actually walk a part of the Tahoe Rim Trail. About 10 miles down and 175 or so to go.
While Elizabeth had a meeting with our designer to figure out stuff that only she cares about, the kids and I went into Tahoe City, checked out where to get Katy’s new skis, went to AlpenGlow, got ice cream, and went to commons beach. Katy was actually more interested in the shopping than in going to the park, but once we were at the park, everyone had a good time.
We went to Tahoe this weekend to check on the construction. The new pictures of the construction and views are here. While we were there with the Schwartz’s, we went to Meek’s Bay. Zeki and Katy rented a kayak and all the kids had a good time riding on it.
Elizabeth went snorkeling and got some pictures. Check out the movies of the turtles. Katy snorkelled a little as well. Sam and Margaret got to look at the fishes through a view board (basically a board they can float on with a window in it to look through). Margaret ended up doing a little real snorkeling in the ocean a few days later.
