I have spent a good deal of time over the last few days scanning in slides. I assume I am about 20% there. Here are a few of my favorites.

San Jose Art Museum

sjart

Margaret and her kindergarten class went to the San Jose Museum of Art. She liked it. A few days later, she had to take me and show me what she saw. In the picture above, they are all looking at the art hanging from the ceilings. Something like this.

President’s Weekend

Another long weekend in Tahoe. This time the girls had the week before President’s Day weekend off, so we went up on Wednesday night. Elizabeth skied on Friday morning until she took out a snowboarder and knocked herself unconscious. She got a new helmet. Then Katy and I skied that afternoon and a most of the day on Saturday. I got new Rossi Bandit B2 skis and had a blast skiing better. The kids played in the snow a lot and we had fun staying with the Schwartz’s.

Ayse and Elizabeth knit, so Katy got a new scarf. No photos of that, but Rusty is wearing a new hat and scarf knit by Marcella.

More Artwork

More artwork from Margaret. This week Sam’s interpretation was a little more abstract. The birds looked a lot like Steve and Blue and their house.

Margaret’s Birthday

Margaret's Birthday

Today was Margaret’s birthday. We had a good time. This morning we (Rusty and the kids) went geocaching. We went with Margaret’s friend Sophia and her dad. We visited the cache that we hid a couple of years ago. It was in good shape. We also went and found another cache not too far away. Margaret says to tell everyone that she got 2 super bouncy balls, one was big and rainbow, the other small and yellow. Sam was very excited, he got a Teletubby and a Hot Wheels car.

Later in the day Elizabeth’s parents came down for supper with us. Margaret demonstrated her new abilities with her new bike. She would like you to know that she rode if very well and that it is blue with Hawaiian flowers on it and fenders.

After supper, Reese and Mary showed up for cake and presents. When I asked Margaret about her birthday today, she told me that she liked her hula hoop. Margaret really likes Hawaii and keeps asking us when are we going back.

Margaret also got me to finish the Harry Potter game on the PS2 tonight I had to fight the big snake (or basilisk).

Bike Riding

Today was a big day. We went bike riding this afternoon. Margaret and Sam at least. We ended up at the civic center riding around the fountain. We got a little video of Margaret. She is getting better and better. She still has a little trouble starting off, but it is coming. She wants this for her birthday. Sam is pretty much fearless on his tricycle. Hopefully, we will get him on the tag-along soon as well as a bike with training wheels.

Margaret’s Music

At Van Meter today it was a very musical day. With concerts on the hour most of the day. The kindergarten classes went a little while after the violin episode. Margaret is the one in the second row behind the boy in the yellow shirt – who is worth watching. Notice she still has on the crown from her birthday celebration at school today. Here is the video.

Violin, lin, lin …

Katy had her violin recital today. Just imagine 60 fourth graders all playing the violin at the same time and it will be like you were there. You can watch each of the songs being performed. Or you can close your eyes and think of a swarm of bees to get the same audio effect. The interesting thing about the music class is that they don’t get much time actually playing the intruments. Most of the time seems to be spent learning how to hold things. The instruments also stay at school and all the work is done there. The kids don’t bring the instruments home to practice.
