Trapeze

Trapeze

We finally had Katy’s birthday party today. Ok, we are a bit late. We took the girls to Trapeze Arts where they all managed to do at least one catch from one trapeze to the other. Fun was had by all.

Washington, D. C.

A-6 Intruder

I went to DC for a few days to visit my buddy Karl and to go to my Uncle John Ed’s 70th birthday party. While I was there I went to the Air & Space Annex at Dulles and a quick walk around The Mall.

Tahoe

Kids on Rock

We just got back from spending about 2 1/2 weeks in Tahoe. We didn’t want to come home. We started out up there with my sister and her family, then the neighbors, then Elizabeth’s parents. The last week, we spent by ourselves. We did some hiking, Katy, Patty and Ceci went horseback riding, went to a laser show at Squaw, went to the beach, found a swimming hole in the river, saw fireworks (and a beaver), Sam broke his leg, went kayaking, saw New Monsoon, played tennis, the kids went to art camp, mountain biking, golf, saw The English Beat, used Bruce’s power wagon, and more. It was really great being up there for an extended period of time. Generally, when we go up, it seems like we are just there for a few days, but this time was more relaxed because we knew we would be there longer.

Sam’s Leg Update

Broken Leg

Sam went back to the doctor today for a follow up visit and more x-rays. He is healing really well, so that when we go back on August 9th, we hope to have the cast removed. Sam is also allowed to put some weight on the leg now, but he can’t really walk in it because his foot, ankle and knee are immobilized in the cast.

In other Sam’s leg news, many of the children and teachers at Art Camp signed his cast this morning. He is getting a bit tired of the cast, but is still remarkably upbeat about the whole thing.

Broken Leg

Broken Leg

Sam broke his leg running around at Squaw Valley Tuesday night. He was just running around playing tag and tripped with Izzy, nothing too dramatic. A non-displaced broken tibia. He has a cast on from the middle of his thigh to his toes. The worst is that he can’t walk on it for 10 days (and he doesn’t have crutches). So, we are carrying him wherever he wants to go and he is getting to watch extra TV and play video games. However, when he gets older he can make up lots of interesting stories about when he broke his leg at Squaw (I am sure he is not the first).
