Barker Pass to Ward Canyon

Barker Pass

Bruce and I walked from Barker Pass back to our houses in Ward Canyon. Once we were near Barker Peak, I looked back and saw where the family was the day before. On the way, we scrambled up to the top of Twin Peaks. We went up to the saddle, then a little way up the Eastern most (right side) peak. The back was a pretty steep scramble, but the front was pretty much a shear cliff. From the top we could see a lot of Alpine Meadows and all of Ward Canyon (except our houses). We took lots of pictures to see if we could find our houses later, to no avail. The best we were able to do was find Merrill’s green propane tank. I also took this picture with my camera phone, but couldn’t quite actually send it from the top of Twin Peaks.

After lunch at Twin Peaks, we scrambled back down and tried to go to Stanford Rock. Turns out, we got to what we thought was the top of the trail, but we never quite made it to Stanford Rock.

It was good to get out and explore some more of Ward Canyon and the surrounding area an d actually walk a part of the Tahoe Rim Trail. About 10 miles down and 175 or so to go.
