The last time we went to REI, the rock wall was open and Katy and Margaret got to try it again. Katy scampered up to the top 2 times in less than 1 minute. Margaret did well as well. Each time she tried, she went a little higher.

When we used to have money, we donated some to the UC Davis Vet School to help them build the Toby Room. They had the dedication just the other day. It was pretty much long and boring, but it was good to see the Toby Room come to be. We had some fun in Davis as well with my parents and Elizabeth’s mom showed up for the ceremony as well.

My parents were at a Vietnam Helicopter Pilot’s Association meeting in Reno, so we went and visited them. We ended up at the Discovery Park in Reno. There was panning for gold, pony rides, a log ride, and more. We also spent a few days in Tahoe as well. While in Tahoe, we went to the annual homeowner’s association meeting, as well as Commons Beach and Meek’s Bay of course.Reno pictures are here, Tahoe pictures are here.

Another bike parade on Elizabeth’s parent’s street. This year the kids (and adults) were too sleepy to go see any fireworks. Check out the video of the Simon says game.

Another great trip to the Napili Surf this year. We did the usual things. I play a lot of golf. We all played in the ocean and the pool. The highlight for Sam was the purchase of his ‘tar. Of course we saw the usual beatiful scenery and sunsets. One other thing that was a lot of fun was the free hula lessons that all of the kids took. I couldn’t get Elizabeth or Susan to participate this year.

We went to Tahoe in early June to try to keep things moving on the construction project and to have some fun. We discovered a great little park right in downtown Tahoe City and on the lake. It is called Commons Beach. It has a rock for climbing. We also spent a little time at Meeks Bay.

Sam’s sisters dress him up in their old Snow White outfit. He was very pleased with himself. I am very worried.

We got a new gas grill. The most exciting thing about it was the box. The kids played in this for hours on end. More pictures here.

Margaret announced that she wanted to see giraffes, so we went to the San Francisco Zoo. It turned out that it was opening weekend for the new African Savana exhibit. We saw all kinds of animals. Margaret’s favorite was the giraffes. The gorillas and the elephant came in a close second. A good time was had by all. Here are some pictures.

Katy had her piano recital today. I think that she set a new world record for length of time for these songs, although she usually plays them even faster. She played very nicely and looked pretty in her new dress, too.
