This was outside the bathrooms at Cowell Theater in San Francisco. I was able to identify it as art right away.

Friday was my 40th birthday, so Rusty took me to Yosemite (because he is a good husband). We stayed at the Ahwahnee; the kids stayed home (because Rusty is a good husband). We had a nice time, and on Saturday hiked to the top of Yosemite Falls, a 7.2 mile roundtrip with about 3000 ft elevation gain. We made it, although the trip took 5 hours. There were great views of the valley, although it was hazy. Click here for a whole bunch pictures from the trip.

Katy went to Girl Scout camp in the Santa Cruz mountains. It was exactly the same as Girl Scout camp in Michigan 30 years ago, but with better scenery. Here are Katy, Rachel, Jenna and Holly making a fairy house in Fern Grove. You can see more photos here.

Riding the train at Vasona park

Another trip to the Monterey Bay Acquarium. This time to see a great white shark. It is the only one in captivity. I don’t know how long it will be there, generally the great whites don’t eat while in captivity. If this one survives, it will probably get to big for the tank after a while anyway. We also made it to Dennis the Menace park again as well.

Sam’s godmother knit him a beautiful sweater with car buttons. Today it was finally cold enough here for him to wear it (over his aloha outfit – he isn’t quite familiar with the changing seasons yet). He was quite proud of it and looked very handsome.

I went to Tahoe this weekend to visit the hole. We have a pile of rocks, running water, and electricity. The forming and concrete work is supposed to start week after next. It may snow there this weekend, so we are not getting stuff done too early.

Check this or this out. The post office in Los Gatos was shutdown today because the postal workers somehow got poisoned or something. I wonder when I will see my mail again.

Sam’s first day of preschool was Tuesday. He had a good time. He is going 2 days a week for a few hours each time. He is supposed to be potty trained to do this, but he isn’t even close (even though his mom believes so). Today we stopped at the gas station on the way in. While I was getting gas, he peed all over himself, we had to go back home and get changed.
