Elizabeth went snorkeling and got some pictures. Check out the movies of the turtles. Katy snorkelled a little as well. Sam and Margaret got to look at the fishes through a view board (basically a board they can float on with a window in it to look through). Margaret ended up doing a little real snorkeling in the ocean a few days later.
Margaret is taking a cooking class this week. Yesterday, she had her picture on the front page of the local daily paper. The caption underneath reads: “Margaret Greer, 6, tastes the fresh homemade yeast rolls and “best-friend” soup that she and her classmates made in the kitchen of Sur La Table in Los Gatos during a weeklong Junior Chef Academy Camp. Children 6-8 learned kid-friendly recipes they’ll make during the five-day camp.
Today was Father’s Day. No pictures, but I figure I would write something up anyway. I got up early this morning and played golf with Brandon, Reese, and George. At the end, my whole family was there to have lunch with us. All the children helped us finish up the last hole. Later in the afternoon, Margaret, Sam, Katy, and I rode our bikes to the school then played on the playground and rode around behind the school. Margaret is getting better and better on her new bike. Katy is getting faster on her skates as well (she carried them there on her bike by herself). We didn’t stay long because we had to go to Palo Alto for the Father’s Day celebration with Elizabeth’s family.
We spent the weekend in Tahoe. Checking on our construction which for this week seems ahead of schedule, but I am sure we will remedy that. Elizabeth’s mother went with us as well as Katy’s friend Olivia. We had a good time. We all went for a walk through Page Meadows. It was beautiful, but it is still just a bit early. It was a little wet and snowy in places. On Monday, Elizabeth met with the contractor and designer while I rode around the lake. The ride around the lake was actually easier than I thought it would be.
Also, we got lucky on this trip. We were there just before the mosquitos were coming out. It had been pretty cold at night and nice during the day, so they were not quite active yet. By the time they left, you could tell that they were just getting started.
Construction Begins (again)
Well, we started a couple of weeks late, but it appears that things are going. They should be pouring the floors sometime next week, then the framing starts. Getting up here and seeing it, we are all much more excited. The kids are mostly excited because the thing that is closest to a room so far is the rec room on the bottom floor.
Margaret’s last day of Kindergarten, they all went to the park for the day. Elizabeth and a fair number of the moms went along. Katy had a similar day in the park earlier in the week. Did you notice that not that much learning seems to be going on the last few weeks of school? We now have a 5th grader and a 1st grader. Sam will go to preschool 3 days a week next year (up from 2 this year).
Katy had her talent show today. She, Olivia, Rachel, and Morgan did a dance. The video is here. Lucky for me, they were the third act to go, so I could leave shortly after it started. Susan, Elizabeth, and Katy stayed for the whole thing.
Gymnastics
Both Katy and Margaret had their semi-annual gymnastics show. The not real good video is here.
