Sam had an assignment over Christmas break to do something with the gingerbread man he made (or something like that). So, we took it to Tahoe and as we were leaving to come home, we took pictures of Sam holding it in front of the house.

My dad passed away early the morning of December 21. He had been struggling with cancer and pnuemonia. I was on the plane a few hours to be able to be at the funeral the next day. There were many tributes to him. The biggest probably being the front page of the Starkville Daily News. He also had a obituary in the Jackson paper and the McComb paper as well. A little over a month later, we all seem to be donig well.
Sam had a concert at school today. Elizabeth got a few movies of it.
Margaret was in the Los Gatos Christmas parade with her Brownie troop again this year. The goal was to get the Triumph ready for the parade, but we didn’t quite make it. It will be ready for the family for next year.
At the first caboose class, a reporter working for the Oakland Tribune interviewed all of the students for an article on Michael Sturtz, director of the Crucible, where Rusty and I are taking classes. Here is the article . I am the one woman student, and the person who drives 50 miles to class. She was wrong about going back into the caboose after the toilet incident. That is actually what produced the molten metal on which I burned my hand, so I went to get first aid. Oh, and she appears not to know that a caboose does not have an engine. But whatever. I also would add that a lot of the work is being done not by students, but by the highly skilled friends of Michael/Crucible teachers.
In other news, I used a drill press to make a bunch of holes in a steel moment frame yesterday. That was a new thing for me, and interesting.
Here are a few pictures.
