We all went to Santa Cruz for Katy to surf. Of course, she did really well. We took the new kayak over there as well and Elizabeth took it out into the bay so she could get a closer look at the surfers.
Today was the annual children’s holiday parade in Los Gatos. Katy wanted to put the Triumph in the parade last year, but the engine was out of it making it a bit difficult. But we made it this year. Katy, Margaret, Sam, and I were in the car and Susan and Elizabeth walked Daisy and Jax along with us. As you can see from the pictures, we marshaled near the Duck Flambe. Unfortunately, it was not allowed to spew fire like it was designed to.

f tree (and Tahoe)
On Saturday, Bruce and I (and Jax and Lexi) hiked up to the f tree. On the way up, there was more snow than I expected, so it was one step at a time, so Bruce lead the way. The way down was pretty much straight down stepping through the snow. At the top, we were in a cloud, so we couldn’t see much at all.
Also included in this album are pictures of Jax digging in the snow. I am trying out picasa web. If you click on the picture above, you get the picasa web stuff. If you want the old stuff click here.
As I was falling asleep last night, I saw this bug, a Jerusalem cricket, running across the floor. Being the human being that I am, I put a box over it. When the box started to move, I put something heavy on it. Well, I forgot about the box and when the kids went downstairs they uncovered the bug much to their surprise.
Pokie got herself a new kayak. It is an Eddyline Fathom. It is a sea kayak as opposed to our other kayaks that are simple recreational tandems. Much nimbler and faster. Now she just has to get better so that she isn’t the limiting factor. Sam was my photographer.
Wonderdog Jax treed a bear this weekend. He was down behind Bruce’s house barking his head off. When I finally got there, he was about 10 yards from a bear at the base of a tree. I first thought it was a cub and mama would be there soon, so I got Jax back in the house. We all went back out and took pictures and watched the bear for a while. He was obviously freaked out and after a while he ended up going WAY up in the tree.
I finally got to go to Interbike this year. It is the trade show for bike shop owners. I ended up just going to Vegas for the day and wondering around the show floor. It was really neat. All (almost) of the names in cycling were there. I spent a lot of time talking to the guys from Xtracycle. This was while I was building mine. Just took a few pictures of a couple of the things I saw there. Next year, I want to go back for demo days.
