Point Lobos

We had to go to Carmel-by-the-Sea to pick up a picture frame. So, we decided to make it a trip to Point Lobos. (OK. It wasn’t just to get the frame, we have been wanting to go to Point Lobos again for a while).

It’s Michigan

I think that the (in)decision was made around May 1st. We are not sure if Katy decided to go to Michigan or that it was just more trouble than it was worth to fill out the paperwork to go to Kenyon. When I asked her the morning that she was supposed to make the decision, she said, “I DON’T KNOW”. I guess she yelled it more than said it. It does seem that she is getting more and more excited about it.

Father Daughter Dance

Father Daughter Dance

Katy’s last father daughter dance at LGHS. This year the theme was Mardi Gras. I am pretty sure I was the only one there wearing a costume that was worn on a float in a parade at Mardi Gras. As usual, no dancing by me, but Katy had a good time.

Wax Museum

Today at school, Sam’s grade did a wax museum. They were all famous people. When you touched them, they came to life and told you who they were and what they did. Sam was Claude Monet.

Diving

Katy has had another year of diving at the high school. She was varsity this year. The team was much better this year, largely due to the fact that Katy coached most of the team and helped them learn the dives.

Play

The Van Meter Play this year was a Pinocchio rip off. Sam was a street entertainer. He even had a monkey (it was another student, not a real monkey).

Track

Margaret did track this year. She chose high jump, long jump, triple jump and 60m hurdles for her events. Each meet she got better. We still haven’t figured out where the running genes she somehow got came from.

Cross Country

Margaret has finished her first season of running cross country at her middle school. She ended up getting 9th in her group at the league championships. She was able to go to the Silicon Valley championships as well. Her times got better and better each meet. She got most improved. I think she would have done better if the distances had been a little longer as well. All of the meets were about 1.5 miles.

Margaret Done with 5th Grade

Margaret finished 5th grade. They had a ceremony to commemorate the event. Next year she will be at the middle school. Margaret was one of about 5 students that read their essays during the ceremony. Margaret is excited about going to middle school. She has qualified out of math 6A and into math 7A, so she will have one class with 7th graders. Next year we will have a child in 3 different schools.
