It is hard to believe that Katy will be going to high school next year. A bunch of high school orientation stuff started this week. Wednesday night, it started with an open house in the gym. Yesterday, it was a panel of current freshmen talking about honors classes (Katy will take English and Biology Honors next year). Today, Elizabeth and I had a tour of the school. It was much different than my school. Lots of really nice facilities. All the students seemed very, very happy.

Katy Diving
Katy started diving today. I think the facility should be ok for her. She is diving at Stanford. More pictures to are here.
I originally posted this from my iPhone with the iPhone wordpress app. For some reason all of the < signs were removed so the photo didn’t show up. I’ll have to work on that.
No pictures. Katy and I went skiing today in lots of powder just ahead of the blizzard moving in tonight. We came up with a new word. Kater. It is the large hole (crater) left behind when Katy does a face plant in 3 ft of snow.
We are having fun watching it snow waiting for our first white Christmas.
Katy and I went to see the Leonardo da Vinci exhibit at the Tech today. It was very interesting to see what kind of engineering existed 500 years ago. Lots of gears. Fortunately for both of us, Katy and I have about the same attention span, so we went through quickly. We could have spent many hours there if we wanted to read and learn everyhing.
Katy and I went kayaking with the Yonenagas on Elkhorn Slough. It was lots of fun. Lots of otters and seals/sea lions. Katy really thought the seals/sea lions reminder her of me because they just lay around and grunt from time to time. You can also see what Jenna thought of the trip here.
We finally had Katy’s birthday party today. Ok, we are a bit late. We took the girls to Trapeze Arts where they all managed to do at least one catch from one trapeze to the other. Fun was had by all.
Today we found Girls Gone Surfing again. These are the people Katy surfed with last year. They put her on a shorter board and took her out where there were pretty much no waves again. Of course, she did just great. I wish I could talk Katy into surfing in Santa Cruz.
