We had Sam’s birthday party for the family in the hospital. It actually turned out ok. Special Patient Services provided us with a private patio and drinks and ice cream. We provided the cake and pizza. The Maxfields also came. Shortly after the party, Sam, Katy, and Margaret all got to go see the Life Flight helicopter. I’ll post a few pictures when I find my camera.
Margaret had a surprise party today for her birthday. I am not sure how surprised she was, but she seemed to be having a good time.
Margaret turned 10 today. Double digits. With all that has been going on with us the last few weeks, it was nice to celebrate her birthday. She was at school and girl scouts most of the day and then went home with her grandparents for a sleep over, but the little we did see of her was nice.
Another great Christmas has come and (almost) gone. We all were up by 6:30 and then opened presents for a very long time. A lot of shovelling by me and everyone played with their new toys as much as they could. All-in-all a good day. We all watched the kid’s new movie tonight (Wall-E).
We are in Tahoe for Christmas this year. This is the first try at this. We will see how it goes. Although, a bit later than previous years, we decorated the tree tonight. We have Marcella here to help as well. I will get my first white Christmas. We have about 5 ft of snow on the ground with 1-3 ft expected Christmas Eve and Christmas day.
Today was the annual children’s holiday parade in Los Gatos. Katy wanted to put the Triumph in the parade last year, but the engine was out of it making it a bit difficult. But we made it this year. Katy, Margaret, Sam, and I were in the car and Susan and Elizabeth walked Daisy and Jax along with us. As you can see from the pictures, we marshaled near the Duck Flambe. Unfortunately, it was not allowed to spew fire like it was designed to.
Another Halloween has come and gone. This year wasn’t as crowded (a little rain), so we only had about 1000 trick or treaters. We had the usual open house as well and everyone brought too much food.
It was Easter. Katy was kind of sick so no one went to church. We did have an Easter egg hunt in the front yard.
Elizabeth: Katy was very sick. We spent several hours in the ER the night before because she was having trouble breathing. Turned out she had croup, which I did not know 12 years old could get. She missed a week and half of school. The rest of us have been a bit sick, but not nearly so badly. Rusty is the sickest right now.
Today was Sam’s birthday. He had the party in his class where he handed out cupcakes and they all said lots of nice things about him. We went to Vito’s for pizza for supper because that is what Sam wanted.
We had 14 or so 9 year old girls at the house on Sunday. It was a dog themed party. The cake was bone shaped, all the girls got little stuff animal dogs, they made things for their dogs.
