It is hard to believe that Katy will be going to high school next year. A bunch of high school orientation stuff started this week. Wednesday night, it started with an open house in the gym. Yesterday, it was a panel of current freshmen talking about honors classes (Katy will take English and Biology Honors next year). Today, Elizabeth and I had a tour of the school. It was much different than my school. Lots of really nice facilities. All the students seemed very, very happy.

Katy Diving
Katy started diving today. I think the facility should be ok for her. She is diving at Stanford. More pictures to are here.
I originally posted this from my iPhone with the iPhone wordpress app. For some reason all of the < signs were removed so the photo didn’t show up. I’ll have to work on that.
Today was a big family ski day. We spent most of the day on the slopes. We all made it to the top of Alpine Bowl today together. This was a first. Katy had done it many, many times. Margaret and I did it last year. This was Sam’s first time. The only one that didn’t thoroughly enjoy it was Pokie. The second time down, Margaret went down the top section on her bottom then hit a mogul and flipped over. We thought she might be hurt, but she turned over and was laughing (it was actually pretty funny to watch). It was a great day.
No pictures. Katy and I went skiing today in lots of powder just ahead of the blizzard moving in tonight. We came up with a new word. Kater. It is the large hole (crater) left behind when Katy does a face plant in 3 ft of snow.
We are having fun watching it snow waiting for our first white Christmas.
We are in Tahoe for Christmas this year. This is the first try at this. We will see how it goes. Although, a bit later than previous years, we decorated the tree tonight. We have Marcella here to help as well. I will get my first white Christmas. We have about 5 ft of snow on the ground with 1-3 ft expected Christmas Eve and Christmas day.
Katy and I went to see the Leonardo da Vinci exhibit at the Tech today. It was very interesting to see what kind of engineering existed 500 years ago. Lots of gears. Fortunately for both of us, Katy and I have about the same attention span, so we went through quickly. We could have spent many hours there if we wanted to read and learn everyhing.
The end of the FLL season is here (for us). We had the tournament today. Again, the kids did extremely well and they had a great time doing it. We got 5th place in the robot challenge and probably about that overall. You can find a video of one of the runs here.
